Paradise Lake

About Paradise Lake

Paradise Lake is a beautiful all-sports lake in the heart of Northern Michigan with affordable real estate solutions.

Buyers looking for affordable lakefront living in Northern Michigan have historically found Paradise Lake a great fit for their needs. At roughly 1,900 acres, Paradise Lake is an all-sports lake conveniently located along the eastern edge of US31. Just 10 miles from Mackinaw City, and even closer to I-75 access, Paradise Lake can be conveniently accessed from just about anywhere. Pellston Regional Airport can be reached from any spot on the lake in about 15-20 minutes, making for easy regional and nationwide travel. The surrounding municipality of Paradise Lake is a town called Carp Lake. The locals determined “Paradise” was a more befitting name for the body of water, and so began a contradiction in names that has continued to this day! For visitors to this beautiful corner of Northern Michigan, Paradise Lake seems to live up to its updated namesake.

Real estate options on Paradise Lake are relatively modest and affordable. Most of the Paradise Lake inventory is priced $100,000-$300,000. These properties tend to be seasonal cottages with a basic finish level, but represent a great destination for warm summer months. Log cabins and simple ranches make up the vast majority of styles on the lake. Most listings under $200,000 come with parcels that have under 100’ of lakefront shoreline. More frontage is found with the higher priced properties, including a select few higher-end homes that can be found on the lake in the $500,000-$550,000 range. While these offerings are the minority on Paradise Lake, they are quite unique and impressive.

Life on Paradise Lake

Residents on Paradise Lake enjoy the low traffic and beautiful aesthetics of life on this body of water. Much of the shoreline is undeveloped – most notably along Stony Point in the southeastern portion of the lake. Here the Stony Point Nature Preserve protects nearly 200 acres of land and roughly 3,000’ of Paradise Lake Shoreline. Just east of Stoney Point is Mud Creek, the primary inflow of Paradise Lake’s waters. To the west, and just south of the Public launch site, is the mouth of the Little Carp River which eventually feeds into Lake Michigan. Paradise Lake is a largely shallow lake, with an average depth ranging 4-10’ and a maximum depth of 18’. A large amount of Eurasian milfoil has developed over the years on Paradise Lake. While this undergrowth can give cover to pike, bass, and walleye for fisherman, it has required management by local residents.

Life off the water is quiet and simple around Paradise Lake. Dining and shopping options are limited, but one common stop for all lake resident’s is Clyde’s Place along the west side of the lake. Just off US31, Clyde’s Place is a relaxed, rustic atmosphere with pub style food & spirits. Signature dining favorites such as the Douglas Lake Bar and Dam Site Inn are just 25-30 minutes south. For staple needs, the Carp Lake General Store is available to local residents just north of Clyde’s. By hopping on I-75, more specific shopping needs can be tackled in Mackinaw, Cheboygan, and Indian River. The buyer for Paradise Lake wants to spend most of the time on the water, but plenty can be found a short drive way landside as well.

Paradise Lake is a great solution for the budget-conscious buyer. If your goal is to pare back life’s demands and enjoy leisurely summer days on the water, Paradise Lake deserves your strong consideration. I am confident I am the best Paradise Lake agent to either aid in your purchase, or guide your sales effort. I understand what makes Paradise Lake real estate a special niche all its own.
